Helping Parents as They Get Older

This has nothing to do with food, but that’s why it’s on its own page.  Part of life this summer was that I took part in my parent’s estate auction, moving, and settling into a new apartment.  That all sounds simple enough, but try it after they’ve lived in the same house for 37 years, and they’re downsizing to an apartment roughly 1/8 the size of their previous living and storage areas.  Talk about a reality check.  Talk about an emotional roller coaster!

I don’t mean to sound as if I’m complaining.  It was achieved, and we all lived to tell about it.  I’m just sayin’ — for those of you who haven’t done it yet, muster all your patience, good cheer, and stamina.  Then schedule a week or so to recover.  : )
